Kokkare Bellur Bird Sanctuary
The Kokkarebellur Bird Sanctuary is located near Maddur at a distance of 85 kilometers from Bangalore and 70 kilometers from Mysore. In Kannada, ‘kokkare’ means stork or ‘pelican’ while ‘bellur’ implies white town. The place called Halagur near Maddur is a must visit place for all those who find nature and the birds more loving and cheering. You can take lots of memories as you can of the famous storks, pelicans and Indian Leck heron for which the spot is famous for. The village near which Kokkare Bird Sanctuary is located near the banks of river Shimsha which flows and merges with river Kaveri. Also the place is an agricultural hub for sugarcane production. Variety of birds are there in the sanctuary, and due to which, they build their nest near the farms on the Focus and the tamarind trees. However the Karnataka Forest Department compensated the farmers for all the loss caused due to bird’s dwelling. And after which the birds and the human community built the Harmony between themselves for so many years now.
Little Cormorant, Black Ibis, Gray Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, and Indian Pond Heron, Ring-Necked Parakeets, etc birds are found here.
Chhota Ladakh
This beautiful place is residing at a distance of 60 kilometers from Bangalore. It is also named Dodda Ayur. The spot is basically a quarry that bridges every rainstorm. Because of the climatic conditions and the nature this place has, it looks like the Ladakh Landscapes.
